Revenue Share
I was wondering how revenue share was working for everyone. The current revenue share is set to where 50% of page views load your Adsense code where you are the sole author.
Are you making enough Google Adsense revenue from Value Investing News to buy a coffee once a week? Are earnings going up, staying level or going down from Value Investing News?
Please make sure you don't violate any Adsense terms of service by being too specific in discussing your Adsense earnings.

I made enough for a grande
I made enough for a grande latte last month and enough for a 7-eleven cup of coffee this month (so far)! LOL.
Coffee supply
Nick,
My hope is that I can help get you a grande latte at least once a week. Heck, given that the warm weather will be here soon, maybe I can even try to get you up to one of those fancy frozen coffees with the whip cream on top.
Given that Value Investing News has yet to be mentioned by any major media outlet (please tell your friends in the press how great this site is), I think we are doing pretty good so far. In addition, I also expect that the archives will start receiving significantly more traffic as the Google search engine starts identifying Value Investing News as a respected source.
If you have any ideas on how to boost Adsense revenues and traffic, please feel free to share them. I've been thinking about converting the front page headline links into internal links (the same as the "full story" link) in order to give members submissions more traffic, encourage commenting, and increase page views. However, some might find the extra click annoying. I'm also not sure if I can actually make the code change on my own due to my technical limitations. Another idea I have is to create user feeds to all the stories they vote up on so they can syndicate those headlines on their own blogs. I just discovered some code to do this, but it will likely take me a few weeks to get it actually working. (Any php programmers in the house?)
Finally, are there any features of Value Investing News that may be inhibiting its growth? Do you find any particular aspects of this site to be annoying or off putting?
George, Sorry I didn't
George,
Sorry I didn't respond more quickly I just now noticed that you responded. I enjoy this site because there are bright people on here that are generous with their time and ideas. In a very short period of time I've had concepts clarified for me and been introduced to excellent fund managers that I was unfamiliar with. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a cup a coffee isn't really that important to me. I think as this site gains popularity we will all benefit in a huge way from the network effect. That said, I'm enjoying a nice cup of coffee right now.
The only detractor on the site for me is when I can't access it. Which has happened infrequently, but more frequently than any other site I visit. I fear that if a major media outlet did pick the site up, that many of the potential users pointed in our direction wouldn't be able to access the site do to the unexpected increase in traffic.
Site outages
Nick,
I'm glad you enjoy the site. The revenue share is really a symbolic gesture to let members know that I appreciate their involvement with this site. Maybe one day it can be more than symbolic. For now, treat it as me taking you out for coffee every few weeks.
Regarding the site's down time, please send me a quick email (george -at- fatpitchfinancials -dot- com) whenever you run across a site outage. I'm going to track down the site outages. I think it might have something to do with my anti-spam software and trackbacks.
I might also have to upgrade my hosting service. I'm cheap, so 3 sites already share one shared host account. Contributor's Corner chews up a lot of processing power during data updates, so it might be impacting this site. I don't think traffic is causing the outages at this time. If the time has come for me to upgrade, I'll reinvest some of my Adsense earnings to get another hosting account just for Value Investing News.
There is also the potential that when I upgrade the software I use, performance will improve. I plan a major software upgrade for Value Investing News within the next few months. A lot of planned features are on hold until the software is done being developed.
Tell me about revenue share
George:
Ok, I'm a newbe here. Just stumbled upon the site. What is revenue share all about? Whose gonna pay for my thoughts? Etc.

If you have a Google Adsense account, you can add it by going to the "my account" link at the top of the left column, then select edit. Finally, click Adsense share and put you Adsense Client ID in the box and submit it. Then every time you submit a new storylink 50% of the time readers come to your individual post, the ads displayed will be from your Adsense account.
Google will be paying for your thoughts.
Revenue share updates
Anyone have updates on their current earnings in terms your coffee supply? Nick, you still getting a grande latte each month. Hopefully, Adsense is throwing in a scone now too.
Revenue Share Results
I don't know if I can be of any help, but here are my results. Thanks for all the coffee George!

Month....Impressions .......Money
Feb............<1000..............$4.60
March........<1000................4.03
April.............2300................9.61
May...............1867...............7.52
June............2300..............10.31

Sept.............1627................2.48
Oct...............4825................3.86
I've made $51.55, $5.73 per month, that is more than on any other hobbies! October should have been a $20 month, but there were only 19 clicks for over 4800 impressions. Who knows? I don't think any of us are here for the money; however, I think George's generosity speaks volumes.
