Lazare Kaplan International Inc. (LKI)

So, its obviously undervalued by some metrics like being a net-net and probably even selling for less than its diamond inventory. But I'm not sure if its worth it. It seems like a good candidate to go private but the problem I see is its basically a commodity type business and I don't have a good enough grasp on the competitive landscape in its business to know if its going to be forever cheap like it has been for years. Any thoughts on the business or the industry in general?

I haven't really looked at Lazare Kaplan much. I have seen the name pop up a few times in the past year or so. That's why this forum post caught my attention.
I'm not really sure that Lazare is a commodity business, but it is a wholesaler in a very tough sector. You can just glance at their financials and tell that they are in a tough business. Diamond suppliers really control this sector.
