I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the debt asset ratio. I thought you would just go to the balance sheet and divide total debt by total assets. But when I go to google finance and screen for this variable it does not work that way. For example, they list the debt to asset ratio for satyam computer services as 2.41, but the total assets on the balance sheet are listed at 2243.3M and the total debt is 54.1M. Can anyone explain this?
