Portfolio Investment Risk

It is so critical for investors to realize the amount of risk in their portfolio. Most investors, even those who are sophisticated, are not familiar with the best methods to measure risk in the portfolio.

An easy way to measure investment risk is available through a new tool from Cake Financial called Investor Quick Check available at www.cakefinancial.com/investor-quickcheck

In less than 5 minutes, you can create an account, upload your brokerage information and have a detailed understanding of the risk in your equity portfolio relative to other investors with a similar style.

Freeconomics...

Free is also the story of Value Investing News. In exchange for your labor of gathering and rating financial news, you get an expertly filtered list of top value investing news stories. For each page that is rendered here at a low marginal cost, multiple streams of advertising revenue are generated. One of the keys now will be for me to drive down this marginal cost by increasing usage. In return, increased usage will create even more value for current users.

Thanks Nick for sharing this article. It has sparked some additional ideas for me to explore in the future. I realize now there are still several ways for me to exploit the Gillette model for both my business and investments.

I've been using

I've been using Morningstar's "Fair Value" estimates to help in analysis the last year or so, and so far, I don't know how impressed I am. Sometimes, I just get the feeling like, "where did they come up with these numbers?" I know they use a "proprietary" DCF valuation, but as a subscriber, I feel obligated to see numbers...

Regardless, good story.
