Take a look at HGSI stock software (as a matter of full disclosure, I work for HGSI - they're a great company with a great product). You'll find the P/E data you're looking for, along with a lot of other signals and indexes. And not to sound like an infomercial, but they do offer a 60 day free trial.

Let me know what you think.

Have you looked at Barra's S&P 500 fundamental data time series? The data goes back quite a ways, however, it stopped being updated in 2005. I've also gone to the iShares for index fund P/E data.

I'm also interested in this data and would like to learn of other sources.

I'm wanting to implement a strategy that involves buying into and selling out of broad index funds based on buy and sell signals from P/E two and five year simple moving averages. If you are unfamiliar and would like to read about it it can be found here:

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/technical/04/020404.asp

My problem is I can't find anywhere that has p/e sma or even p/e data that goes back far enough so that I can calculate them myself. I don't mind paying for the information if I have to. If anyone knows where I might find this I would appreciate it. Thanks
