New Category Suggestions
It might be time to reexamine the categories available for story links. Value Investing News currently uses the following categories:
- Behavioral Finance
- Bonds
- Commentary
- Digest
- Filings
- Funds
- Reviews
- Stock Analysis
- Superinvestors
- Tools
A member recently suggested we consider adding "activism / activist investors". I think "shareholder activism" might be a better title. Do you think we should add this category? If so, what should it be called?
I also have noticed a lot of stories getting placed in "Commentary". That's a sign that we may need to add additional categories. Some categories we may want to consider adding include:
- Basics or Education - To cover quality links to fundamental analysis and other stock analysis training and education.
- Derivatives - We already have stocks, bonds, and funds
- Management - finding high quality management is also important for value investing
- Mental Models - Charlie Munger style stories
- Mergers & Acquisitions - Cover major corporation restructuring. Could also be called just "corporate actions"
- Mr. Market - highlighting the manic behavior of the market to point out market inefficiencies that value investors could exploit.
- Scuttlebutt - Discussion of what others are saying about a company. Philip Fisher style stock investigation.
- Shenanigans - Accounting tricks, excessive compensation, and other bad behavior by companies and/or their management
- Shorts - Ideas for shorting overvalued high risk stocks
- Special Situations
Would you like any of these categories added? Are their any categories that you think are missing? Let's get this discussion going. I welcome the feedback.

I like really like
I like really like Shareholder activism, Education, M&A, and Special Situations. I do think that the other ideas would be interesting, but I think that we should probably add categories slowly.
these look good to me Mr.

Thanks for the Category feedback
Thanks Nick and Mr. Wallstreet for the feedback on story link categories.
It figures that Mr. Wallstreet would like the Mr. Market category. Hehe.
I look forward to hearing from other members. Also, feel free to suggest other categories that I failed to include in my first attempt at gathering all the potentially viable story link categories.
Id add Special Situations
Id add Special Situations and Shareholder Activism
Shareholder Activism category
There seems to be a strong interest in Shareholder Activism, so I think I will add that category shortly. Then as we get more interest, I start to add some of the other topics suggested.
Are there any categories that need to be removed?
