May Contest - The Four Filters

The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie MungerWin one of the three copies of The Four Filters: Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger that we are giving away in May!

As significant as the refinement of the microscope by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, Labitan believes that Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger invented an investing formula that is underappreciated by the business and academic communities. In his view, the Four Filters developed by Warren E. Buffett and Charles T. Munger is an amazing intellectual achievement in both practical and behavioral finance. He thinks it will have a major future impact in the way business, management, and behavioral finance thinkers shape new methods of combining qualitative and quantitative valuation. After all, the Four Filters are an important set of steps used by the world’s greatest investors. While Mr. Buffett does not endorse this book, he did give Dr. Labitan permission to use his quotes from the annual letters to shareholders. Labitan weaves the material into the story of successful “framing” and the “filtering out” suboptimal investment choices.

Value Investing News will be giving away a signed copy of The Four Filters to the top two point earners in May. The third copy will be given away to a randomly selected active member. We thank author Bud Labitan for sponsoring this month's contest. Anything involving WEB and Munger is of interest to me.

The Four Filters is EXCELLENT. I've read many value investing books, and i find this one to be one of the best by far. Bud's book would be perfect for the beginner. He has done a great job organizing the information and inserting quotes. I'm halfway done and can't put it down. I'm sure I'll be re-reading this many times.

Kenkid, Thanks for your endorsement of my book. I tried to keep it short and focused. Back in April of this year, I had a contract offer from a big publishing house in NJ. However, I had to turn them down after their desires to change the title (drop Charlie Munger) and expand the text with fluff. So, this book is what I intended it to be; a look into the amazing four filters process Buffett and Munger use to frame investment decisions.

Without the big marketing and distribution systems of a large publishing house, the book's exposure and readership will depend on you and others like you to get the word around the investing community. I am glad you like it. Bud
