Best Investments for 2007

What do readers here think will be the best investments for 2007?

Here are some ideas:

  • Microsoft
  • Berkshire Hathaway
  • Sears Holdings
  • GE

What are you thoughts?

Good question, George.

Personally, my largest holding is BRK and I plan to keep it that way.

I am pretty bullish on the big pharma for the coming year. In particular, AMGN, NVS and PFE. All are pretty reasonably priced at the moment. With AMGN and NVS boasting some pretty impressive products in the pipeline.

I think the best investment will be found in much smaller market cap than the companies mentioned above.

I'd love to own all those companies if I could get them at great price of course. I don't know GE very well. Isn't it heavy into financials now after that last acquistion? I'd rather buy a small bank like fsbk to get into financials or BCS.

I like SHLD becuase of Lampert and his business smarts. I bought kmart before I knew anything about investing. before it went on the Nasdaq. kinda sad. so I have the old shares worth .01.

I admire Buffett as an investor, businessman, for taking only 100k or so as CEO and for giving 80% of his net worth to charity. Whats going to happen to Berkshires growth when he leaves? becuase no one else is Warren and can grow shareholder value like he can becuase its essentially his holding company. Maybe I'm wrong and the person that takes his place is the best bussiness person of the century. But if there's a CEO who's not Buffett what are the realist prospects for shareholders?

I like FO PG CLX JADE RAI CL HD *CBOU-*(when profitable) below what there worth, "intrinsic value" so to speak
I own shares of FO

Title: Nabors (NBR)

Despite the stock options story, I think Nabors (NBR) looks very interesting. I've watched how they've transformed the company and the industry while building something of a competitive advantage in an industry that is naturally prone to wild swings.

Marty Whitman has a long history with Nabors. In the last quarter, he was loading up on the stock – nearly doubling his position, I think. It should have a reasonable multiple looking forward. As far as larger stocks go, it is one of the most interesting from my perspective.

Not a lot is cheap these days though. There's very little I can get really excited about.

ypnt balance sheet looks ok, 1st quarter good, seems like a good business. help me find some red flags.

LECG Corp. (XPRT)

BRNC only profitable last three years. hard to predict earnings let alone cash flows.

You would think the homebuilders would be cheap Centex looks overpriced to me.
